Our Mission

Genghis Collar publishes practical, evidence-based guides to help dog owners make better decisions about health, nutrition, breeds, training, and everyday care. Our goal is simple: give you clear information you can trust, explained in plain language, so you know when you can handle something at home and when your dog needs a veterinarian.

How We Choose Topics

We write about the questions dog owners actually ask: symptoms they notice, foods they wonder about, products they are considering, and behavior they want to understand. We prioritize topics where accurate information can protect a dog’s health or safety, such as toxic foods, emergency warning signs, and medication safety.

How We Research

Our health, nutrition, and medication content is based on recognized veterinary and scientific sources, including:

  • Peer-reviewed veterinary journals, such as the Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Journal of Veterinary Internal Medicine, and Frontiers in Veterinary Science.
  • Veterinary reference texts, such as the Merck Veterinary Manual.
  • Professional and regulatory bodies, such as the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), the World Small Animal Veterinary Association (WSAVA), the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
  • Large-scale veterinary research programs, such as the Royal Veterinary College’s VetCompass.
  • Poison control and safety organizations, such as the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center.

Where an article relies on a specific study or statistic, we name the source and list key sources at the end of the article.

How We Write

  • Plain language: we explain medical terms and aim for content most readers can follow easily.
  • Balanced: we describe both benefits and risks, and we say clearly when evidence is limited or mixed.
  • Safety first: health articles include warning signs that need a veterinarian and never encourage delaying professional care.
  • No exaggerated claims: we do not promise cures, and we flag claims that are not supported by good evidence.

We may use software tools, including AI writing assistants, to help research and draft content. Every article is edited and checked against the sources above before it is published, and our team is responsible for everything we publish.

Fact-Checking and Review

Before publishing, each article is checked for accuracy against its sources, for safety warnings, and for consistency with current veterinary guidance. Health content is written to support, not replace, the advice of your own veterinarian, as explained in our Medical Disclaimer.

Keeping Content Up to Date

Veterinary knowledge changes. We review and update articles when new research is published, when guidelines or product safety information change, or when readers report a problem. When we substantially revise an article, we update the date shown on the page so you know how current it is.

Corrections

If you find an error, please email [email protected] with the page address and the issue. We review every report, correct confirmed errors promptly, and update the article date when a correction changes the substance of the content.

Independence and Advertising

Our editorial decisions are made independently. Brands and advertisers do not review or approve our content before it is published, and we do not accept payment in exchange for positive coverage. If we ever include affiliate links or sponsored content, we will label them clearly so you can judge the information for yourself.
